Ortho Keratology (Ortho K)

Ortho K is corneal reshaping technology and involves the flattening of the curvature of the cornea with contact lenses for myopic, or shortsighted patients.  This treatment reduces the need for optical aids, enhances unaided clarity of sight and controls ‘myopic creep’ – the gradual progression of myopia. People requiring excellent vision for careers such as flying, law enforcement and fire fighting can benefit from Ortho K.  For some children and young adults with progressive myopia, Ortho K can stop and in some cases ultimately reverse their myopia. Ortho K can also benefit people simply wanting to be less dependent on external devices for normal, functional vision.
